Planktonsamples from the Southern Bight of the North Sea in 1973 are taken with a high speed sampler of the motorship Aurelia of the Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ). The sample frequency was about once a month. The pelagic Polychaeta from a part of the Netherlands shore and offshore waters are determined in this report. The effectivity of the sampling net, with meshwidth 300 µm, for the Polychaeta larvae turn out to be 0.5-5 %. An extensive research in literature from adult stages and larvae forms the biggest part of the report. The influence of sea currents and rest transport effects are considered in relation with the migration of long pelagic larvae of the Polychaeta, Sedentaria. Especially is this discussed further on Lanice conchilega, with a pelagic lifetime of 8-10 weeks.
